Sažetak
The Upper Jurassic and Cretaceous sediments of the western and southern Istria are presented by the shallow-marine autochtonous limestones, early diagenetic and late diagenetic dolomites. Thin interleyers of marls/clays, intraformational breccias and chert nodules and lenses occur sporadically in them. An abundance of LLH-stromatolites, oncolites, peletal and lime mud-bearing limestones with dessication cracks, fenestral fabric, peritidal cycles and short-lasting emersions in the Upper Tithonian and Lower Cretaceous point aut a sedimentation in the inner part of a carbonate platform in supratidal-intertidal - tidal flat - subtidal - lagoon and innerplatform shallows environments. Rudist biostromes, coquinas and coquinites in alternation with lime mud-bearing limestones dominate in the Upper Cretaceous. They were formed by sedimentation in shallow part - subtidal and shallows of the carbonate platform.
