Sažetak
Carbonic anhydrase activity was studied in the trichobranchia and the antennal gland, the important osmoregulatory tissues of the European lobster Homarus gammarsu and the freshwater crayfish Astacus torrentium. The comparative-physiological study of carbonic anhydrase in the crustacean kidney aimed to contribute to understanding of evolutionary adaptive trends in the vertebrate kidney. .A strong role of the antennal gland in the freshwater crayfish Astacus was shown in the reabsorption of Na and Cl ions from urine. In addition, the 2.7 -fold higher ratio of CA activity in the antennal gland compared to trichobranchia demonstrated an important role of carbonic anhydrase in antennal gland, supplying counterions for osmoregulation. In the lobster Homarus gammarus less significant role of antennal gland in osmoregulatory processes was found.
