Sažetak
Today, biocatalysis is the rapidly growing field as a standard technology for the production of chemicals. The total number of biotransformation processes that is being carried out on a large scale has grown quickly over the past decade. It is expected that this growth will continue.1 One of such chemicals is 3, 4 -dihydroxyphenyl - L- alanine (commonly known as L-DOPA), which is well known as a drug used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. L-DOPA is not only interesting as a product, but also as a substrate in various enzymatic reactions, many of which are known to take place in a human body. One of the products of its complex metabolism is 3, 4-dihydroxyphenylpyruvic acid, an a-keto acid which is useful as a food additive for people with chronic uremia2. It can also be used for the enzymatic preparation of 3, 4-dihydroxyphenyllactic acid (danshensu), which is known as a traditional Chinese medicine.3 The enzymatic synthesis of keto-DOPA with L-amino acid oxidase as a biocatalyst was studied in the enzyme membrane reactor.
