Sažetak
The goal of the paper was to compare metaphors and metonymies of anger in English with their Croatian equivalents. The theoretical part of the paper focuses on cognitive linguistics, metaphor and metonymy, particularly their experiential basis - comparing emotional functioning with bodily functioning. The second part of the paper concentrates on the comparison of English metaphors and metonymies of anger with their Croatian equivalents. This comparison has showed that there are many more metaphorical and metonymic expressions of anger in the English language then in Croatian. Several English expressions have the same Croatian equivalent. Some of the English and Croatian metaphorical and metonymic expressions are equal in structural or lexical terms, but there are also examples where the expressions differ lexically, structurally or both lexically and structurally.
