Sažetak
The poster provides a list of online electronic journals and databases available on CD-ROM or on-line, with full-text or abstracts (both free of charge and with subscription), which are used by National and University Library (NUL) and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FMENA) of the University of Zagreb. The information have been acquired by consulting librarians who work on databases search for library users in the mentioned libraries and by searching relevant web information sources. Electronic journals within Science Direct (Elsevier), LINK (Springer), Ebsco publishing, Emerald and Dialog databases are not included because those databases cover all fields of science (not only technical sciences). The research shows the list of some journals with full-text available online free of charge, also a few journals with abstracts available online free of charge and selection of web sites with patent databases, trademarks and standards. In the second part of the poster a short description of some databases which are on CD-ROM and online on the web is provided. Part of them is related to all fields of science while a few of them are related to the technical sciences. Some of the described databases are: NTIS (National Technical Information Service), Compendex Plus (Ei Compendex), INSPEC (Database for Physics, Electronics and Computing), ICONDA (International Construction Database), OIT (Office of Industrial Technologies), ISMEC (Information Service in Mechanical Engineering), Energy Science & Technology (formerly DOE ENERGY), AIA (Aluminium Industry Abstracts, formerly WAA - World Aluminium Abstracts) etc. Croatian libraries within the Science Information System – Engineering subsystem were also surveyed. The research shows that surveyed libraries use the existing digital sources rarely or not at all. Those libraries rely on previously mentioned multidisciplinary databases to which the Croatian academy community is subscribed. Therefore the poster gives an overview of certain titles of electronic materials, which is used by NUL and FMENA in Zagreb, in effort to encourage the library community to the sistematic gathering digital material in the field of technical sciences.
