Sažetak
In this study data on leaf anatomy and opinion on ecological appertainance of the pubescent oak (Quercus pubescens Willd.) are presented. Special attention has been paid to the differences between the leaves exposed to sun and those in the chade. Leaves were collected from the trees of Orno-Quercetum ilicis H-ć association growing on the Kozjak mountain. They were examined by standard laboratory procedures using light and scanning electron microscopes. Micrometric results were statistically evaluated. Dorsoventral leaf structure, together with leaf thickness rainging from 100-300 μ m and paliade making 25-50% of total leaf thickness demonstrate mesophytic character of the pubescent oak. However, some properties, such as over 5 μ m thick cuticle, even epidermal cell walls, hair on both leaf sides, well developed cuticular lamellae and waxy leaflets demonstrate its xeromorphic character. On the basis of these it seems that pubescent oak should be classified as a xeromesophytic plant species.
