Sažetak
Growth of the aged population is a feature common to majority of industrial societies in the twentieth century but during the last few decades it has become a widespread phenomenon. The increase in the number of older people in society is expected to continue into the twenty-first century (United Nations, 1988 ; Uhlenberg, 1992). The ageing of a nation has influence on all aspects of society. It results in changes in the way a society functions, from the marketing of products, to retirement and employment patterns and to social relationships between generations. This report gives data on demographic changes in the structure of the Croatian population and characteristics of the retirees.
