Sažetak
Total concentrations of 15 elements (Ca, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mn, Ni, Pb, Rb, Sr, Ti, V, Y, Zn, Zr) in the size-fractionated Danube river sediments of the village of Batina together with seasonal variation in elemental content of the fraction <0.5 mm and its exchangeable phase have been investigated. Trace metals increased with decreasing particle size, whereas the highest organic matter and carbonate content was found in the 0.5-1 mm fraction. Exchangeable phase accounted for a very minor proportion of total heavy metal concentrations. Seasonal patterns of exchangeable Pb, Zn, Cu, Mn and Fe were more irregular than those of total metal levels, the both generally reflecting decrease in concentrations during the spring period. Combined rubidium and organic matter normalization of the Cu and Zn concentrations, which was applied on the minus 0.063 mm fraction, indicated that a certain extent of the metal input derived from anthropogenic activities upstream of the study area.
