Sažetak
The 6th Congress continues a decennial tradition of joint meetings where scientists from central and southcentral Europe get together to exchange information and experience. This year’ s meeting was held under the auspices of the European Microscopy Society (EMS) as a regional meeting with European extension, which means that several prominent scientists from European countries outside of the circle of nominally contributing states, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italia, Slovakia, and Slovenia, were invited to participate. The word “ electron” was dropped from the Congress title, following the example of EMS and an increasing number of national microscopy societies, in order to cover a broader scope of microscopy techniques. The Congress took place in a hotel resort at the outskirts of the ancient city of Pula at the Istrian peninsula, hometown of the famous Roman amphitheatre, the Arena.
