Sažetak
The ISO 9000 series of standards (2000 revisions) provides the basis for designing and implementing the first level of quality management system in transport and logistics organizations. Quality improvement is strongly associated with the cycle-time and cost reduction, i.e. elimination of waste in business processes. Benefits from the ISO 9001 quality certification will be limited with the "command and control" approach where lower level employees do not actively participate in the quality improvements. The paper discusses the basic requirements for proper interpretation of ISO 9000:2000 standard in the context of transport and logistics service. The suggested further steps to integrate the Business Excellence and holistic Total Quality Management (TQM) include systems integration (SI) which helps one see clearly the "big picture" and change it effectively. The process model of transport services and basic steps in developing the quality management system are proposed.
