Sažetak
Strategic guidelines defined by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) pay special attention to the development of the international postal traffic, technological development, users' requirements and liberalisation of the global market as well as the provision of universal postal service. Postal operators modify the technological processes by introducing the advanced telematic tools and applications, thus multiply increasing the effects of operation on a wide-spread network of distribution and concentration of addressed postal items. The results of applying the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the postal traffic subsystem, due to the systemic and interactive connections between traffic modes at all levels are simultaneously measurable in the whole traffic system. The integrated introduction of single technological solutions of ITS into the postal traffic subsystem and joint usage of the infrastructural basis necessary for the realisation of these solutions results in a series of advantages that form the value-added services for postal service users. The paper considers the basic features, possible effective development and deployment of ITS application into the postal traffic subsystem.
