Sažetak
The present situation in which is the development of postal technology has the twofold character. As the threat appears growing competitive influence of numerous transportation (logistical) operators as well as new information-communication services. On the other hand, development of technical and technological solutions makes possible the modernization of postal technology and strengthening it position at the market as global operator. In order to the correct modern technical-technological solutions implementation we consider as useful formulation of suitable methodological approach. Theme of this paper is setting up a such view on the postal technology which starts from the basic model of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Assumption is that it is possible, on higher levels of observation, to establish the analogy between these two systems. Benefits are multiple: from the numerous possibilities of reciprocal interoperability on different levels and modes of traffic system to simplification of traffic cognitions exchange and to establishing generalized traffic methodology. In relation to the technological research of postal traffic across phases in the postal items transfer process, this approach suggests studying of postal technology as the system with components based on modern telematic solutions (ITS). In the paper has been set a such technological model and derived basic specific qualities important for, according to that model, elements of postal system.
