Sažetak
Space-time interpolation of soil water storage (SWS) data is used to compare the water balance of a Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) - European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) stand and a pure Norway spruce stand. As a temporal trend a physical-deterministic model of soil water flow (BROOK90) is included in the spatio-temporal model. The space-time correlation structure of the stochastic residual was fitted using different model types (product model, product sum model, Bilonick model). After validating the models it turned out that the space-time correlation structure can suitable be described by a sum of a spatial and a temporal component. The temporal change of SWS seems to be almost entirely captured by the trend model. A drastically decreasing sill of the temporal marginal variogram after detrending underlines this. Results appear to be more realistic when including the trend particularly along abrupt changes like precipitations (without considering a trend rain is visible in plots already several days before it actually occurs). Spatio-temporal patterns in space-time interpolations can obviously be related to differences in water consumption between spruce and beech.
