We study the utility of the impulse approximation (IA) approach in Compton scattering for the treatment of the triply differential cross section (TDCS), with respect to outgoing photon energy and both photon and outgoing electron angles, in single ionization Compton scattering, and its utility for the treatment of double ionization Compton scattering.
