Sažetak
The English terms denoting aerodrome surfaces are generally one-word lexemes, such as runway, taxiway, stopway, clearway. Their Croatian and Slovene equivalents are usually quite similar, and multiple terms are often used to express a single concept. Runway is translated as uzletno-sletna staza and vzletno-pristajalna steza, respectively, but other variants like (Cr.) staza za uzlijetanje i slijetanje or /Sl.) steza za vzletanje in pristajanje ; pista are quite common, as well. In the Croatian language, there are also doubts as to some purely formal features of various expressions ; e.g., uzlijetno-slijetna vs. uzletno-slijetna /and their combinations). Croatian laws and regulations use two parallel terms: uzletno-sletna staza and uzletno-slijetna staza. The paper will analyze the existing terms in both Croatian and Slovene. New one-word terms will be proposed with the intention of providing more precise and more economical terms for the basic aerodrome surface.
