Sažetak
The rational crop production includes the fertilizer application in amounts that correspond with crop and stand requirements, soil nutrient status and also considers weather conditions, environment and possible yield. The nutrient balancing and simulation models of plant nutrition had been developed recently with development and application of computer technology. The natural processes are defined functionally by taking account the active factors, available data and their interactions and then the fertilizer requirement can be estimated by using computer program. Sophisticated computer applications can significantly increase the objectivity and accuracy of fertilization recommendations, as well as diminish the mistrust of the producers if they were good and comprehensively explained. The formulas included in the fertilization calculation in calculator are simplified for the on line use on the Internet and adopted for different agroecological conditions in Croatia. The programs are written in JavaScript so that they can be copied and used off line (file size 96 kB). Calculator includes two major parts: different choices and data input on left side and on right side windows with output data (fertilizer recommendations, nutrient balance, interpretations and suggestions). Input area includes 5 groups of data: field data, planned and previous crop data and manure data, necessary soil analyses data, optional soil analyses data, soil management data. The simplified description of calculation procedure: nutrient removal by planned yield, nutrient content in crop residues ; mineralization of crop residues according to vegetation duration, soil texture, precipitation amount, soil pH, manure, cultivation ; nutrient availability according to mineralization of manure and humus content ; nitrogen fertilizer recommendation ; phosphorus and potassium recommendation. The complex rules that determine P availability were incorporated into this programme, such as the interactions among pH, P, Ca and K, microelements, the influence of temperature, rainfall and C:N:P ratio on the mineralization of P from humus or preceding crop residues, soil texture etc ; potassium recommendation as a result of potassium removal, soil potassium extracted by ammonium-lactate, calculated mineralization, soil texture ; amount of available fertilizers and nutrient balance calculation. The upper output window contains calculated optimal complex fertilizer formulation, nutrient fertilizing recommendations, recommended amount of available NPK, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, nutrient balance, lime requirement (optional) and nitrogen mineralization amount and the biggest output window gives additional interpretations and suggestions.
