Sažetak
Defining of a long-term development strategy of the islands of the Šibensko-Kninska County is a contribution to the efforts to envisage the basic directions of social and economic development in the future which may be a foundation for establishing of the necessary measures and instruments of development policy and for implementation of very concrete development programs. The basic goal and objective of strategic thinking, i.e., management of island economy and eco-system, is sustainable development. The basic goal is thus determined not as a future desired state which needs to be reached and retained, but as a permanent and complete - in terms of economy, ecology, technology and in the social sense - sustainable use of island resources. Managing the development of the islands of the Šibensko-Kninska County means building an ecologically adequate infrastructure and permanently stimulating and directing the users of the resources to the sustainable development path and prevent possible deviations.
