Sažetak
A total of 9, 436 fishes belonging to 15 families and 42 species were caught in, summer (N=1497, S=25), autumn (N=2591, S=26), winter (N=3627, S=24) and spring (N=1721, S=30), at 6 stations in Pantan Lagoon, middle eastern Adriatic, using a 50 m long beach seine. Seven species: Atherina boyeri (33.3%), Pomatoschistus marmoratus (23.2%), Liza aurata (8.3%), Liza ramada (7.1%), Aphanius fasciatus (5.5%), Pomatoschistus bathi (5.1%) and Diplodus annularis (2.9%) comprised 85.4% of the total. The nMDS plots of fish assemblages at 6 sampling stations show some seasonal differences, especially between summer and winter samples. With respect to similarities between sampling station, stations 1, 5 and 6, and also stations 2 and 3 appear to be similar. Fish assemblage at station 4 appears to be different than fish assemblages at other stations. Results of ANOSIM2 test for the un-replicated 2-way layout showed that there was significant difference in species assemblages at different sites (Rho=0.385, P=0.007), while statistically significant difference was not noted between seasons (Rho=0.221, P=0.057). Changes in spatial and temporal distribution of fishes were related to their ecological categories. Results of this study demonstarate that Pantan lagoon is important fish nursery habitat that, although rather small, has high spatial fish diversity and therefore deserves special protection.
