Sažetak
In the second half of the last century Croatia has undergone dramatic changes in number of inhabitants and also regarding their age, sex, illiteracy, educational attainment, migration, economic activity and ethnicity. As the population of Croatia has been decreasing in recent years, the estimates for the future is not very optimistic. From the present number of 4, 437, 460 it would fall to 4, 320, 000 in the year 2050 with the growth rate of -0.3% annually. The estimate of life expectancy in 2050 is 80.7 years compared with 73.7 in the year 2000.
