Sažetak
The contributors investigate different problems concerning the study of the Mahabharata, the Harivamsa, the Ramayana, the Puranas and the younger works in their style and metre. The papers present various approaches: theoretical discussion of philological procedures ; historical analysis of texts and their strata ; detailed textological studies of particular persons and the passages dealing with them ; analyses of literary composition ; structulal analyses of texts ; reconstruction of the history of religion and of texts of religious literature ; investigation of relationship between epic and puranic myths and the plots of the classical Sanskrit dramas ; broader historical context of the rise of the epic literature. The Proceedings are of interest to all those who work in the field, as well as to a broader public who are concerned with the relationship between oral and written literature, with history of culture or with history of religions.
