Sažetak
The trend towards the unification of international commercial law is one of the most characteristic features of the law in the second half of the 20th century. One of the most important instruments in the field is United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods of 1980. Within the part related to the CISG several topics are discussed, such as short history of the CISG, opting-out rule and other reservations on the application of the CISG as well as the relationship between the CISG and soft law. As opposed to CISG, which operates on a global level, there are number of regional instruments aiming at unification of the international sales law. For instance, the European Union and the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA) have undertaken such steps. The article provides the analysis of those instruments concluding CISG as a "soft" international treaty cannot prevent regions from enacting new rules of a mandatory character for international sales.
