Sažetak
Cydia pomonella has been known as key pest of Croatian apple orchards. The number of treatments against this pest goes over six per year. The big problem in protection of codling moth is resistant to different insecticides against this species. The other problem is in clime condition because of high temperatures activity of insecticides is short-lived. In the Croatian apple orchards selective insecticides such as insect growth regulators are common used. The sex pheromones have been used only for monitoring. The mating disruption and "attract and kill" technique are not registered in Croatia. This technique was tested in the apple orchards of 1 ha two years. Product for attract and kill technique named "Appeal" has been used in doses of 400 g per hectare. In the first year of testing we had two times application of Appeal, in the second year we had three times application. The monitoring of Cydia pomonella moths flight has done by pheromones inside and outside have by Appeal treated orchard. The results of the both years of experiment (2001 and 2002) showed low efficacy because the percentage of attacked fruits was between 3 and 8. The reason of low efficacy attract and kill technique against Cydia pomonella in Croatia is in the appearance of significant population of other species Tortricidae in this orchard.
