Sažetak
Composition consisting of 3 steel and 3 glass panels was horizontally placed into Split
aquatorium seawater, 30 cm above sandy bottom. Every fifteen days a pair of panels (a steel
and glass one) were taken in order to determine the fouling species and measure the EOCP of
panels before and after stripping of fouling communities. Also, the changes in EOCP for 4
electrodes were traced in laboratory conditions. In the spring 1995 a total of 30 species of
algae (24 bentonic and 6 planctonic) were established on glass substrates placed next to steel.
EOCP for the electrodes examined in laboratory conditions reach constant value after 10 days
and corrosion process take place. In natural conditions the algae cells attached to the metal
form compact layer providing a barrier to supply of oxygen and suppress the corrosion
reactions. The subsequent colonization of SRB results in achieving mixed potential resulting
from their activity and passive current density on the passivated parts of the panell.
