Sažetak
Structural analysis of a FPSO ship is rather complex task involving hydrodynamic analysis, extensive longitudinal strength assessment and demanding FE strength and fatigue analyses. Besides, some special load effects as green water on deck, slamming and sloshing deserve special attention. In the article, the whole procedure for structural analysis required for a FPSO ship is reviewed, while some important steps are demonstrated on the example vessel. The relevant results from hydrodynamic analysis are used as input data for subsequent strength analysis. For hydrodynamic and statistical analysis programs WADAM and POSTRESP, that are part of SESAM package are used, respectively, while for the strength analysis, program VeriSTAR is employed. Special attention in the paper is paid to functional differences between a FPSO and ordinary oil tanker, and to immplications of these differences on a vessel design. Finally, in the conclusion, some explanations why Croatian shipyards could be competitive for the fabrication and conversion of FPSO ships are given.
