Sažetak
Peptide-D is a pentapeptide recently defined by N. Štambuk by means of SCA method. We investigated Peptide-D and its complementary peptide that belongs to the family of neuropeptides. The effects of the peptides on peripheral blood lymphocytes were analysed in vitro with respect to their influence on cell cycle, proliferation, apoptosis and mutagenesis. In vivo toxicity and cytoprotection were evaluated on the rat and mice model. Peptide-D and its complementary motif (transcript) were analysed by one- and two-dimensional 3H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Their fragmentation was followed by laser description mass spectrometry. Spectroscopic findings and in vitro and in vivo studies contributed to the understanding of the physiologic and pathologic functions of the calpain-calpastatin system and possible peptid-M-FKB2 interactions. The results are discussed in the context of the several ocular diseases including cataracta, optic neuritis and uveitis and related drug design.
