Sažetak
Two basic dimensions consistently reappear in models of interpersonal behaviour (Spitzberg, 1990). The terms agency and communion (Wiggins & Trapnell, 1996) could be used to denote these dimensions. Several multifaceted self-assessment instruments were used in this research to empirically investigate agency and communion dimensions in interpersonal communicative interaction, specifically the Social Skills Inventory - SSI, the Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire - ICQ, the Communication Functions Questionnaire - CFQ, the Interpersonal Communication Skills Questionnaires - ICSQ, and the Interpersonal Communication Competence Inventory - ICCI. Structural patterns of agency and communion dimensions were analysed through the communication skill and trait variables that are associated with the two dimensions. Preliminary findings of gender differences in the structure of these dimensions are also presented, as well as a more elaborated model of the dimensional structure of interpersonal communicative competence. Research data are interpreted in the light of the most recent review of the state of interpersonal communication skills assessment (Spitzberg, in press). Finally, suggestions are made for relevant future research topics.
