Sažetak
Integrating into the EU implies substantial change in the structure and implementation of the national trade policy. National trade policy has to be adjusted in the process of accession to the norms provided by the EU trade police. In the case of Slovenia it brings new contractual and other relations with the countries outside the EU - third countries. In case of Croatia it brings new trade relation with its partners - with Slovenia among others - on two grounds: a) change or extinction of the existing free trade and other agreement with new member stats of the EU, b) Croatia trade policy towards new EU members has to be based on preferential nature of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU. Experience of new (expected) EU members in implementing trade policy before joining the EU, gives background ideas to Croatia how to lead its trade policy in the accession process. For new EU members and accessing countries a basic lead for trade policy implementation is contained in the concepts and objectives of the EU trade policy. The paper will focus on areas of national trade policy adjustments during the EU accession period with the intention to suggest cost minimization of trade policy change after getting into the EU membership.
