Sažetak
Intensive changes in the enterprises' structure, especially of small enterprises, have great importance for the process of economic transition and the economic development in Croatia. The paper is focused on the research of development and possibilities for the growth of small business in Croatia. Greater mobility of small enterprises and effective adjustment to the market business conditions, with relatively small assets and capital, have up today resulted in the over average growth of basic financial results. However, due to general trends in the total economy, the small entrepreneurs also have unfavorable indicators of general and current liquidity. Positive trends in the business of small enterprises indicate a possible way of alleviation and solving the key problem of the entire develoment - unemployment and faster initiation of development cycle through investments in insufficient production for domestic and foreign market. Therefore, measures of the current economic policy at all levels, especially in the sector of credit-monetary and fiscal policy, should be more effective than large enterprises and they can contribute faster development of the country.
