Sažetak
Forest planning as an integral part of forestry in Croatia has a very long tradition, and so the current situation and problems in forest management planning are linked with changes in forestry as a whole. The first part of the article presents the basic data on forests, the organisation of forestry and the relevant legislation, the forest planning model and the current problems in Croatian forestry. In the discusion the authors examine the implementation of the national forestry strategy, the establishement of the public forest service, the division between the managing and executive powers, the need for new legislation in the field of forestry, regulation of property relations, the demarcation between forests and agricultural land, establishment of a uniform information system and the drafting of the Regulation for forest management planning, which is a pre-condition for succesful problem solving in forest management planning. In the paper the authors also touch upon the establishment of ubiform inventory of forest stands, the management of privately owned forests, management of low forests, management of beech stands in former slective forests, activities in mine-areas and the profile of the planner.
