Sažetak
The paper deals with recent knowledge and progress in wide strip production by means of classical thick slabs casting and hot strip mill technology. It is compared with new progressive technologies employing continuous strip casting with and without the sublegment rolling process. The energy consumption and production rate criterion were used to evaluate the individual technologies. Energy consumption of new strip casting technologies accounts for only 50% of energy consumption of classical slab roughing mill process.
