Sažetak
Patinets (pts) with gastrointestinal cancers suffer from many symptoms during their disease, range symptoms 1-25. Pain is the most prevalent symptom in cancer pts. Its occur in 70-90% of pts with advanced disease. Fatigue is the most frequently reported symptom in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy (cht). The aim of this study was to compare the symptoms prevalence and its severity in cht. 238 pts were inrolled, there were 84 female and 154 male with mean age of 63, 5 years. There were 166 (69, 75%) pts with metastatic or locally advanced disease. They recieved 332 course of platonum based cht. Pts with Dukes B disease recieved in total 146 courses of adjuvant cht (Mayo Clinic Protocol). Symptoms severity levels (mild, moderate, severe) had been evaluated in all pts at the start, after 1st and 2nd course of cht. The most common symptoms reported in cht naive pts were pain in multiple sites (69, 8%), depression (622%), anorexia (46, 2%), fatigue (45%) and sleeping disorders (41, 6%).After second course of platinum based cht, pts reported following symptoms: fatigue in 100%, anorexia in 72, 2%, depression in 55, 6%, sleeping disorders in 36, 1% and pain in only 3, 3%. With adequate analgesic therapy during cht, pain become good controlled symptom, but fatigue experience during cht is a serious problem. All pts who received paltinum based cht protocol developed severe fatigue supporting the need for better fatigue management.
