Sažetak
During four years period 280 patients with diagnosis of colorectal cancer were cured in our Clinic.182 (65%) had metastatic or locally advanced disease.195 (69, 8%) expressed pain.Pain intensity was graded by self-assessment, using Memorial Pain Assessment Card (MPAC) and Wisconsin Brief Pain Questionnaire.Etiology of the pain syndromes was grouped into the following categories : pain caused by cancer, related to treatment, associated with cancer disease, unrelated to cancer and treatment. The average pain intensity on the day prior to admission was graded as severe by 70% of the patients. A total of 1008 anatomically distinct pain syndromes were identified for the 280 patients.30% of patients presented with 3 or more pain conditions.90% of patients didn¨t received any prior therapy for pain. Following the three-step analgesic ladder of the WHO we achieved pain relief in 85% of patients. Conclusions : there appeard to be no relationship of pain gradation and attaintment of analgesia effect to gender or age.Because we empiricaly used and H2 blocker or sucralfate in patients to whom NSAIDs were administered, we noticed gastrointestnal toxicity only in few cases.Although we administered combination of cathartic agend and a stool softener to patients taking opioids, they developed constipation in 36% cases. No central nervous system, respiratory depression or systemic toxicity was reported in this study.
