Sažetak
The search for proper physical description of the conduction, injection and recombination of charge carriers in amorphous organic molecular medium has been a subject of intensive research over last decade. In the same time, the electronic devices based on small organic molecules and polymers have been rapidly developed. Some of them, like organics-based full colour screens, have reached the stage of prototypes for commercial production. In spite of that, the understanding of the multi-layer organic structures and even the understanding of some basic processes involved are far from being complete. Here we present rather extensive numerical model for organic light emitting diode (OLED). It will be shown that, when used in parallel with experiment, the model provides rather detailed insight in the way in which various processes combine to determine the overall device behaviour. Moreover, in this type of combined theoretical/experimental analysis one may spot the parts that require more detailed understanding and modelling. In particular, our recent studies point towards the necessity for more detailed understanding of carrier hopping/tunneling and recombination in the vicinity of the interface between two different organic media.
