Sažetak
This paper explores the period of deep economic transition from command towards market-based economies in 1990-ties. The author tries to explain what economists believe is the nature of the process of economic growth in transition countries in light of past transition process results. This paper briefly reviews major economic thought with regard to new economic circumstances in transition countries. Following this author summarizes the past experiences of certain transition countries with a focus on the latest economic trends and problems with carrying trough specific reforms. The paper concludes with some recommendation for transition economies for achieving long-term sustainable growth.
