Sažetak
Istria has an ancient viticultural tradition (more than 3.000 years of history), and vineyards as well as wines make an integral part of a wonderful istrian landscape. In the past, from a total surface of 282.000 ha, 45.000 ha were occupied by vineyards, and 80% of population dealed with agriculture. In this paper authors investigate characteristics of istrian landscape, as well as of relative vineyards and wines which represent fundamental elements of relative landscapes. Research results have shown that vineyards and wines, are harmonised with other landscape elements of a certain area. More, landscape characteristics of vineyards depend on more factors and a vineyard is also changing according to those tendences. This leads to a better harmonization of istrain landscape. The most important examined factors of vineyard-wine landscape relation, are those relative to growing technology and training systems (growing density, armature, training systems, canopy manipulation, soil manipulation, mechanisation, varieties, clones etc.), as well as a wine processing. Must be underlined that autochtonous varieties are emerging again in Istrian landscape, such as Istrian Malvasia, Poreč and Momjan Muscats and three red varieties: Teran, Hrvatica and Borgonja. Up to the introduction of mondial varieties like Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon e Merlot, at the end of XX century, these varieties presented the majority of cultivated varieties. Today these autochtonous varieties rise in importance also as a typical product representing the interaction between men, nature and tradition. Research results confirm its high value, due to peculiar wine characteristics of such autochtonous varieties. These integrated aspects of landscape, vineyards and wine present the basis for agritourism development. Its strong presence among other typical istrian productions will improve istrian landscape and make it even more complete, original and integrated. It will also make the basis for a future economic and demografic revitalisation of total istrian rural area.
