Sažetak
Like most Croatian towns, the town of Beli Manastir has not solved the problem of municipal waste disposal adequately. In the town area there is a dumpsite, which is used as official waste disposal site. The dumpsite has neither basic landfill infrastructure such as a fence, a basal and covering layers nor eluate and gas collecting or a treatment system. In addition, the site is located some 400 meters away from the center of the town, thus causing a lot of trouble to local population, especially during summer. Except this large "official dumpsite", there are several illegal dumpsites that require prompt remediation. In this paper, a description is given of two possible methods to be used for remeditation of this dumpsite. One method, i.e. the ex-situ method, involves the transfer of the whole volume of the material disposed of from the present disposal site to a new, more appropriate, location. Another, i.e. the in-situ method, includes transportation of waste from both the "official dumpsite" and the illegal smaller dumpsites to a new landfill.
