Sažetak
Gray cast iron with graphite flakes alloyed with aluminum displays superior flameproof properties and relatively law mechanical properties. Therefore, it is applicable only for production of components not exposed to great loadings. Basic problem in production of gray cast iron alloyed with aluminum is successful addition of aluminum. For this purpose, there are two separate technologies available, such as: Alloying by mixing of separately melted gray iron casting and aluminum Alloying by dissolution of aluminum during melting process of gray casting. Basic precondition for selection out of these two technologies is the available equipment. Blast furnace for melting of gray casting and aluminum furnace are used in the first case, while the second technology prefers induction or graphite resistant electric furnace. The paper gives description of both technologies with their advantages and disadvantages, as well as same melting, physical and mechanical properties of the flameproof gray cast iron.
