Sažetak
During the history wine grape was propagated vegetatively by cuttings, wich occasionally were taken from one region and introduced in another, disregrading the cultivar name. In new place, the cultivar got the new name, or existing name was alternated in accordance with local dialect. This is especially true for Dalmatia where considerable dialectal differences might have been caused by many islands and coast indentedness. The result is the existence of great number of homonyms as well as synonyms in the names of cultivars. Due to the lack of ampelographic collection vineyards and through ampelographic studies, it was not possible to reliably verify these homonyms and synonyms. Conseguently, the real number of cultivars and their "true to type" has not been known. The objective of this paper was to survey several groups and pairs of potential homonyms and synonyms by means of RAPD markers and ampelographic descriptions.
