Sažetak
A new process of producing hard carbide layers on the surface of structural components and tools made of steel targeted to increase resistance to tribological wear has been reported. Basic characteristics of the process of diffusion formation of carbide layers have been mentioned, and a comparison with the deposition processes used to produce identical layers has been presented. A recently developed “ ; duplex process” ; comprising the pre-carbonization of steel and diffusion coating is introduced. This process offers significant advantages when compared to the current coating processes. Some examples of industrial application of the process have been presented.
