Sažetak
The advantage of tourism and its impact on the economy have been the center of attention of the professional and scientific community for a number of years. If determining and evaluating the contribution of tourism were a simple task, there would be no disputes or discrepancies between declarative standpoints and the policy of the Government towards tourism in Croatia. When we speak of tourism, the volume of expenditure is always an issue, because the tourist is a consumer with financial means earned in a place other than the place of his/her temporary residence. The author highligts the importance of studying tourist expenditure and its economic and social impacts in Croatia.
