Sažetak
In combining historical processes on the macro and micro level the paper nvestigates the crucial aspects of social life at the beginning of a reorganized military border society in the region of Lika. At the beginning of the 18th century this society, economically based on farming and cattle breeding, was characterized by massive exchange of groups of populations caused by the change from Ottoman to Habsburg administration. Almost the whole Muslim population left the region and was substituted mainly by Orthodox Vlachs and Catholic Bunjevci. The article is mainly based on a Census of Lika and Krbava region from 1712.
