Sažetak
This paper discusses the spectral approach as a tool for fatigue analysis. The spectral approach is described in four steps: hydrodynamics analysis, structural analysis, long-term stress range distribution and fatigue damage assessment. Fatigue damage is evaluated based on hot-spot approach that assumes finite element method application for a generation of hot-spot stresses. A typical ship structural detail is analysed and a discussion with respect to the evaluation procedures is given, including the applicability of different modelling and extrapolation techniques.
