Sažetak
Since the first discovery of a megatracksite in the Late Jurassic (Late Kimmeridgian sensu gallico) in the Northern Jura mountains, numerous tracksites have come to light. Following the documentation of another large tracksite in the Jura mountains additional sites have demonstrated that those constitute altogether a second megatracksite. Stratigraphic correlations indicate a Mid Kimmeridgian age. The southern limit of the megatracksite reveals tracks on three distinct levels (Moutier) whereas the northern border (Glovelier) yields six different levels. Within these recurrent associations more than 3000 individual footprints have been ragistered. Two different morphotypes of dinosaurs are present. Among those are medium-sized to large sauropod (wide-gauge type) and large theropods. The tracklevels occur at the end of small-scale "shallowing-upward" cycles and are often found in barren micrites that show fenestrate fabric, birds-eye and stromatolites. Those observations indicate a deposition in a tidal flat environment. The recurrent association of sauropod and theropod footprints over a large area (150 km') is consistent with the Brontopodus-ichnofacies concept.
