Sažetak
A simplified procedure for determining slamming and whipping of a ship operating in rough sea, for the needs of the initial ship design is described. It is based on the-state-of-the-art knowledge in this field. The procedure incorporates calculation of relative bow motion in both harmonic and sea waves, determination of conditions of slamming occurrence and frequency, impact pressure and extreme impact load, as well as whipping analysis of ship hull by employing a beam FEM model and time integration of governing modal differential equations. The application of the described procedure is illustrated on the example of a large container ship.
