Sažetak
Mixtures of 2, 4, 6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and cyclo-1, 3, 5-trimethylene-2, 4, 6-trinitramine (RDX, Cyclonite, Hexogen), standard high explosives, in different mass proportions, are widely used as an explosive fill for different types of projectiles. The mass fraction of TNT in such mixtures may be easily determined by a standard analytical method based on the selective solution of one of the components in suitable solvent. This method is precise, but time consuming. The procedure and the results of quantitative determination of TNT in mixtures with RDX by the use of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) are described in the paper. The obtained accuracy (error less than ą3 mass percents), as well as the fact that the method is fast and that it simultaneously gives several pieces of information about a sample to be tested (e.g. temperature and heat of melting, temperature and heat of decomposition, calorimetric purity, etc.) make it applicable for fast and rough quantitative determination of TNT in a mixture with RDX. The described method can be also used for the determination of TNT in a mixtures with HMX and PETN.
