Sažetak
Organic mulch is a nature-based solution since have no harmful effects on the environment. Mulch has the goal of restoring degraded ecosystems and delivering vital ecosystem services. Mulch occurrence on agricultural soils has a positive/neutral effect on several land degradation processes. To name a few, mulch increases soil moisture ; reduces compaction, soil loss, and evaporation ; improves soil structure and nutrient cycling ; and increases overall biota. The negative impacts of this practice are related to elevated greenhouse emissions and acidification. Overall, mulching enhances soil health and functions through which soil degradation can be restored. Future research should focus on identifying the proper mulch type, duration of mulch application, and dosage for particular soil degradation processes.
