Sažetak
The first few years after graduation can be especially important for establishing one’s career. Recent graduates need to find a (first) job, establish the direction of their career, and choose a subfield in which they want to build their career. Career crafting emerged as a new way to describe career behaviours that are relevant to the changing nature of one’s career path. Based on The Career Construction Theory (CCT, Savickas, 2002, 2005, 2013) career adaptability should be important for engaging in adaptive career behaviours. Therefore, the aim of this research was to investigate whether the career adaptability of graduates leads to more career crafting (both proactive career reflection and construction), and is this relationship moderated by career satisfaction. A two-wave longitudinal study was conducted online with a time interval of three years. Recruited participants in T1 were graduates who finished university or college in Croatia in 2019. A total of the 236 participants who were employed in T2, three years later, were included in this study. Participants completed Career Adapt- Abilities Scale (CAAS, Savickas & Porfeli, 2012) at T1, The Career Crafting Survey (Tims & Akkermans, 2020), and the Career Satisfaction Scale (Greenhaus et al., 1990) at T2. Career satisfaction did not moderate the relationship between career adaptability and proactive career construction. That is, more enhanced career adaptability after graduation predicted proactive career construction, regardless of one’s career satisfaction. However, career satisfaction moderated the relationship between career adaptability and proactive career reflection. Career adaptability predicted more proactive career reflection in those who had low and medium levels of career satisfaction, but not in those who experienced high career satisfaction.
