Sažetak
After completing formal education, a significant number of people are not sure what to choose for their future occupation. Frequently, the expectations emerging from different theoretical knowledge, that individuals acquire during formal education, are not accompanied by practical experiences in real environment. Many decide to change their profession and retrain at a more mature age because after practical experience it is much clearer which occupations are more attractive to them in terms of their own personality and abilities, but also in terms of labor market needs. Furthermore, people who are confident in their right choice of acquired qualifications after formal education, by investing in personal professional development, advance in their profession and thus ensure a high level of professionalism. Future studies methods can help us in choosing and changing professions and occupations, additional training, future planning and professional goals. In Croatia, they are better known as futuristic research methods. They provide an individual with systematic and continuous management of their own professional development. The paper provides an insight into the above methods (Visioning, Scenario planning, Backcasting , Forecasting, Causal Layered Analysis, Futures Wheel and Futures Triangle) with the aim of their use in planning future personal and professional development, personal future planning and raising the personal level of professionalism.
