Sažetak
In today’s word, information is power. Nevertheless, not many researchers are aware that most of the information related to the research and its state of the art can only be found in the patent databases. Namely, the ratio between the information published in patents and publications is 80:20%. Each year, 25% of all research and development efforts are wasted on inventions that have already been discovered. One should never start its research before the proper search in the patent documents’ data has been done. These databases are the places where selective competitors publish their research and development results. Solutions found in them are 90% free to use, and only 10% of them are protected. The workshop will combine a presentation of the main non-commercial patent’s databases together with some inspiring examples of patent protection and their extension.
