Sažetak
In marine diesel engines, primary and secondary methods are used to reduce pollutants. The former act on the combustion process, the latter on the exhaust gasses. They differ in their results, their effects on engine efficiency, and the cost of retrofitting the system. In this work, two of them were used: engine efficiency and pollution reduction efficiency. Using a simple mathematical model and an engine room simulator, an analysis of the optimal operation of two pollutant reduction systems - fuel-water emulsion and selective catalytic reduction - was performed. The analysis provided insight into the optimal operation of the engine.
